If you were to make a group with 1 profession, which?
If you were to make a group with 1 profession, which? I personally think a ranger group would be the most versatile. You could set up all the various secondaries to support the group. I am interested to hear other opinions?

I'd personally go with a full Paragon or Monk team. Both can deal dmg and support the group well.

Necros. Definitely the most well-rounded. They may be soft, but they have minions.

Necros, trivially. Speaking from experience, a team of eight necros properly synergized can cakewalk through virtually anything in the game.

Well, if I only get get ONE profession, (i.e. no secondaries), it would have to be Paragon. No other profession can do the healing, damage, and take care of conditions like Paragons. The mutual support that they provide makes them a clear winner.
If your question is about one PRIMARY profession, then it really doesn't matter as much. You can still spec to 12 in any attribute.
And are you asking about PvE, or PvP? Makes a difference, I say...

Paragon. Imba energy management, defensive and offensive buffs, stupid martial damage, party healing, condition removal, unremovable buffs, stupid IAS.
If it's 2(P/S) professions, then Necromancer. Stupid energy management in PvE, Enfeebling Blood.
